Macross, or 'The Super Dimension Fortress Macross', is a 36-episode Japanese animated sci-fi mecha series, created by studio Nue and Shôji Kawamori in 1982. The series fairly quickly acquired mythical status due to of its principle based on three elements, mechas with a realistic design designed by Shôji Kawamori called valkyries, a musical atmosphere provided by the songs of a young idol, Lynn Minmay (Mari Iijima) and especially the scenario mixing space-opera and love triangle
